The Coastal House is a split-level concept developed to suit sloping residential sites, in particular, the split-level sites at Martha Cove.
It is particularly well suited to sites on Victoria’s coastline which slope toward water views.
The mid level entry point to the house allows an immediate appreciation of the view.
The design has bedrooms on the mid and upper levels with the living spaces at the lower level to maximize their relationship with outdoor living and entertaining spaces.
This configuration allows the building to fit the profile of sloping land and ensures effective zoning of living and sleeping areas.
The buildings composition is one of timeless sleek modernist forms with a dynamic layering of shapes and materials.
The strong horizontal rooflines take advantage of the buildings split-level form to introduce long sweeping highlight windows filling the house with light and a wonderful sense of space.
