Brighton Residence, One Off Home Designs, Display Homes Melbourne
A composition of strong and simple geometric shapes, constitute a striking residence. The design uses devices such as sweeping horizontal forms and a concealed skillion roof to reinforce a simple architectural vernacular. A degree of illusion was exercised to screen and blend elements of the home into the landscape and to float the facade to the streetscape.
An open, spacious and light filled home was to be created. The house was to exemplify a beach and recreation orientated lifestyle for the Clients and to vigorously embrace external living and entertainment. Together with these requirements the home was to provide a tranquil and private oasis for the family.
The weathered timber decking at the entry sweeps inside through a massive pivot hinged door, effectively eroding the distance between external and internal spaces.
Large glazed screen doors and massive windows open up the spaces between internal living and the external poolside environment.
The neutral tones of the finishes and fittings allow the furnishings and occupants to create their own impact and character within the spaces.
