"An ease of living"

There is a recurring theme of Inform homes being described as 'light and bright.'

Jane Price-Waterman, an Inform client described her new home as exactly that.

“It’s a really nice change to have a house that is light and bright and warm and clean,” Jane said of her familys home, the ‘Gallery 2’.

What drew Peter Waterman and Jane Price-Waterman to Inform was “the modern styling and being able to go and see the show houses,” Jane said. However, they were equally taken by the design.

“The Gallery was the reason we picked Inform, we could picture our furniture in this house and loved the design,” Jane said.

And not surprisingly, the furniture looks like it was made for the house. The great architecture and quality building is complimented by stylish furniture with a sixties touch, instantly making an impression when walking in the front door.

This combination of modern and retro gives the house significant character and charm.

Jane was very positive about the process of building their home with Inform and dealing with Consultant David Lawn.

“David Lawn was really good and obviously experienced with people with strong opinions,” Jane said with good humour.

Jane particularly loves the open-plan living area that boasts views of the local park and allows for a lot of natural light and warmth.

“We really enjoy living here,” Jane said, “we love that it’s light and bright and the location of looking over the park is great.”

“It’s a really nice sized house, it feels generous and we’ve all got space.”

Something that Jane loves about the open-plan living area, her favourite part of the house, is its adaptability.

“We love how the open-plan entertaining and living area can transform from being a light daytime area, to a comfortable and warm room at night, whilst also being a great space for entertaining.” Jane said.

“The house offers a real ease of living, it’s really nice to live in.”

Client insight

Proud Inform clients, the Patersons are very pleased to have recently moved into their new home in Camberwell.

“We love it!” Angela Paterson said, “It’s a really easy house to look after and entertain in.”

Angela particularly loves how the wide-open spaces allow for a lot of natural light internally.

“It’s light and bright – it’s warm when you need it to be warm and lovely in summer as well.”

Her favourite part of the house is the open-plan living area, connecting the kitchen, dining and lounge area as one large space, which allows “space for all the family” Angela says.

Where the hallway connects to the living area, Consultant David Lawn and Architect Leon Meyer helped the Patersons design a step down, allowing for a higher ceiling to optimise the open-plan living space.

“[It has] a really lovely open feel,” Angela said. “We spend a lot of time here.”

When asked about her experience in dealing with Inform throughout each stage of the process, Angela’s response was very positive.

Angela said that dealing with Inform during the pre-construction phase was “fantastic.”

“We were actually going with another building company, but we got really frustrated with the process” Angela said.

“We switched to Inform because we always liked the designs, but thought it would be over our budget, but it wasn’t.”

In addition, Informs communication with the Patersons and dedication to completing the house was assuring for the family.

“We were driving by just about everyday to see what was happening and there was always somebody on site, which was really good” Angela said.

So, why did Angela choose Inform?

“We’ve noticed the designs in the area and the houses have a specific look about them which we really liked,” she said.

“[Inform] was more of a boutique builder, not doing lots and lots of projects so they were able to concentrate fully on our project.”

Unlike Inform, many building companies involve liaising with four or five Consultants during the pre-construction process.

Inform offer a more personalised service, where you will deal with one Consultant during pre-construction, and there on, liaising with just one Supervisor.

“We’re hoping to [build with Inform] again one day, we can’t think of anything bad to say, it was a very smooth process.

“We really love our house!”

Editorial from The Weekly Review 'California Dreaming'

Architecture and construction company Inform has launched its latest house pitched at the high-end market.

The design of Inform’s new California House is inspired by the classic Kaufmann Desert House in Palm Springs, California.

The Kaufmann House was designed by Richard Neutra in 1946 and was commissioned by Edgar J. Kaufmann snr, a Pittsburgh department-store tycoon who, a decade earlier, commissioned Frank Lloyd Wright to build the famous+ Fallingwater in Pennsylvania.

The Desert House was designed to emphasise a connection to the desert landscape, while offering shelter from harsh climatic conditions.

The flat-roofed house features large, sliding glass walls that open the living spaces and main bedroom onto patios. Major outdoor rooms are enclosed by movable vertical fins that can be manoeuvred to provide protection from sandstorms and the intense heat. An open-plan living and dining space is at the centre of the house.

Inform’s California House has been designed by Pleysier Perkins Architects, who featured recently on Grand Designs Australia.

Simon Perkins told The Weekly Review that Inform had been inspired by the design of the Kaufmann House and approached the architects with the idea.“We felt Neutra’s timeless, classic approach was worth pursuing.

We have always been interested in mid-century American architecture and while the Kauffman house was radical at the time it was built, it is essentially classic. We liked the simplicity and the dynamic look of it,” he says.

“We have designed many open-plan, open-air, pavilion-style homes in different parts of Australia and were inspired by the way Neutra designed the house to enhance the beauty of its landscape. While we would never claim that our suburban landscape equates to the Californian desert, the indoor and outdoor relationship of the design is fundamental to the way we live in Australia.”Perkins also says the large roof planes used in the Kauffman House suit Australia very well as they provide solar protection.

“We have designed the house with the living areas downstairs and the private area upstairs. The open-plan style of the ground floor is in keeping with the contemporary nature of the way we live,” he says.

The house has four bedrooms and two bathrooms — the master bedroom has an en suite and walk-in robes.Cameron McKimm, Inform’s marketing and development manager, said the group was excited to offer a high-end home “The home will have all the features you would expect in a high-end home but with Inform value.

We are also offering more affordable versions of the house starting from $600,000,” he said.

The display suite will be in the Hampton Street Dendy Village Shopping Centre.

Coastal House: Brand New Design for Martha Cove

Earlier this year PPB (Recievers & Manager) Marina Cove, released 30 lots for sale on Helsal Point, Martha Cove. Land has been selling fast.

Inform and PPB are proud to announce the development of a smart, stylish and economical concept particularly to suit the sites at Martha Cove.

The Coastal is a split-level house, designed to make the most of Martha Cove's amazing setting.

Inform has spent time with PPB developing numerous concepts to suit the different sites. There is a 3 & 4 bedroom version, with 4 uniquely different external designs.

If you're interested in house and land packages or you have a site which the Coastal House could be suited to contact an Inform Consultant on 8567 3800.

For more information on Martha Cove see below article from Mornington Life Magazine explaining the current status of the development.

The past year has seen the re-emergence of Martha Cove as an enviable lifestyle choice for buyers on the Mornington Peninsula

The 97-hectare residential and marina development has benefitted from significant investment, including the construction of a new café, the reduction of Owners Corporation fees and the completion of construction works to enable the release of new waterfront lots that offer unrestricted boating access to Port Phillip Bay.

The pricing of the waterfront lots has also been the key to attracting potential purchasers.

A spokesman for PPB Advisory, who act as Receivers for one of the financiers to the developer, Marina Cove, said, “The stakeholders recognised early on that one of the challenges at Martha Cove was its lack of amenities and while there are plans for a commercial and retail precinct in the medium-term, we wanted to ensure that residents, boaties and potential purchasers could have somewhere to gather for a coffee and a bite to eat.

The pricing of our new release at Helsal Point has attracted significant interest, confirming our view of the strong market demand for this unique type of product, if priced appropriately.”

With prices starting as low as $569,000, the waterfront land release at Helsal Point offers generous sized allotments, berth entitlements from 12m to as much as 20m, payment of the Owners Corporation fees for three years, and the ability to choose your own builder.

The $650 million development previously faced financial issues as a result of the GFC and the large capital outlay required to construct its infrastructure, including the road underpass that allows Martha Cove’s residents direct bay access.  This cost was reflected in the high pricing of the land prior to recent land releases (four years ago, blocks of land were priced at $1.1 to $1.4 million).

Careful management, increased investment in infrastructure and attractive pricing provide greater certainty for potential home buyers and investors about the development’s longer term future.

Stuart Cox and Steve Walsh, of selling agents Jacobs & Lowe-Bennetts, have been appointed by PPB Advisory to sell the land at Helsal Point.  Mr Cox admits that, “In the beginning, the pricing structure was quite optimistic.  However, we know there are buyers at the right price”.

PPB Advisory expects that prices will rise as the supply of these unique waterfont lots runs out.  “The lots represent an opportunity that will never be repeated or replicated on the Mornington Peninsula”.

The new café, which is open daily and situated on the harbour, is being operated by high-profile caterer, Peter Rowland.  It provides a range of local gourmet food and produce, as well as bbq packs and convenience items for boaties and residents.

While there may have been some false starts along the way, Martha Cove looks like it is finally living up to its full potential.
