BUILD GREEN EXPO
Former Collingwood AFL footballer and sustainable building advocate Shane Wakelin spearheaded Inform’s booth at the 2009 HIA Build Green Expo. Inform was the only builder to exhibit and was invited to the Expo’s main stage to give a presentation about the green aspects of the Butterfly House by the home’s designers, Zen Architects.
“There’s an enormous amount of interest and a genuine demand from people wanting to make more environmentally friendly and sustainable decisions in the construction of their homes,” Shane says. “A common question is how many stars a home has, but I’m not sure people necessarily understand what the star ratings mean for the performance of the home.”
Shane says a key difference between Inform and other builders is the strong emphasis on maintaining its hallmarks of contemporary architect designed homes that have high sustainable performance. “The Butterfly House helps demonstrate that green can look great. There’s also a real appreciation among home buyers that incorporating more sustainable features when building now can add re-sale value in future.”
